  1. S t a r t l e or s c a r e the b a b y : Never t r y to s t a r t l e or s c a r e the b a b y to m a k e him s t o p hiccupping. A loud b a n g of a bursting p l a s t i c bag, c o m m o n l y used f o r hiccupping a d u l t s , may c a u s e damage t o the s e n s i t i v e eardrums o f babies.
